DIY Paint
DIY PAINT
I am so excited to have DIY PAINT at ReStory!
I will have DIY PAINT available for purchase SOON, but I wanted to share with you my first big project with this amazing product!
It was EASY!
I had this sideboard at home, waiting to be painted. I took it to the shop.
My vision was a black and white cabinet, quite distressed. I thought it would be fun, to give a “rough” look, to a more traditional piece.

I gave it two coats of white DIY PAINT, Bead Board. That took less than an 8 oz jar!

After that, I gave it two coats of DIY PAINT Black Velvet 🙂

Then I distressed it with a wet rag. The paint adheres very well! I would advise to paint the undercoat first, let it dry overnight.
Then add the top coat next morning and distress it in the afternoon. I learned that in the hard way, and worked up a sweat distressing!!!

I was very excited to use Dark and Decrepit Liquid Patina for the first time on a big project!
There was a learning curve, I have to admit!
You have to wet your brush in water and apply the liquid patina in small sections.
Then wipe it with a wet cloth. It dries really fast.
The cabinet feels very smooth…
No sanding or buffing required!
Here is the finished result!
